Fact Check

https://twitter.com/twinkqqunist_nb/status/1367578224872607748?s=20

Mostly False

What's True

Anything related to Inhabit™ is very cringe and extremely embarrassing. Circulation of stale memes is also cringe and embarrassing. Time to move on.

What's False

There is no “guy” that wrote this. This is a hastily put together collage of various renown anarchist texts, plagiarized so they would seem like a response to Inhabit™, done as a meme or shitpost for lulz. The original authors have no regrets.

how's covid governance going in your territory /d/oomers? :/ here there's still a curfew every evening before the sun even goes down, and most anti-curfew sentiments will get you called a crypto-fascist by liberals and leftists. however a popular revolt is also underway and growing, mayday should be pretty interesting.

anyone seen any anti covid governance activity getting any traction successfully outside of right-coded spaces? or have any luck infiltrating or engaging with other mobilizations? i know in many places restrictions are mostly lifted / non-existent, but for the rest of us- are we just waiting this out? feels like shit

Is path b leftist?

Is path b distinct from anarchism and leftist ideology? a lot of radical ppl I talk to see it as anarchism but then normies dont usually but seem to see it as k back to the land, or commune-ist, or really whatever radical thing they are already familiar with.

I think it’s not leftist because path b doesn’t call for revolution to destroy the state or take power, but socially “exit a dying civilization”. Its still hard seeing what this means, but I think it feels different to most ppl from anarchism that wants to destroy society or socialist that wants to make it work better.

What are we reading these days, comrades? I just got a copy of "Less Is More" by Jason Hickel–I really enjoyed "The Divide," and this is a more explicit call for degrowth (which I believe should be called "collapse"). Got a copy of "Post-Scarcity Anarchism" in the mail, should hopefully get that before too long.

The Next Eclipse

What do /d/oomers think of this stuff written by people in the midwest?

https://thenexteclipse.wordpress.com/

>The Next Eclipse is a challenge to build the capacity for regional autonomy in this time between the eclipses. By “autonomy,” we mean the possibility of a life outside the existing economic and political relations, the possibility of a dignified, free, and equal life here in southern Illinois.

> "Either communism is among us, within us and through us, or it is nothing. It’s like love which, it seems to me, shares many things with communism: we miss it although it is always there, we hear it beating in the depths but we can’t grasp it. And even buried under millions and millions of bits, pixels, lies and pain, betrayals and tears, we still hear it."

Hello, pals. I'm not doing great. I look at what's happening in Texas, and it's exactly what we all knew was going to happen. Climate change → extreme weather → grid failure → municipal collapse. The authorities, elected and otherwise, abandon the people. This is the moment we should have been preparing for, building networks of mutual aid, installing community microgrids, canning and pickling everything that you could eke out of a vacant neighborhood lot, and if we weren't preparing for it, we don't have an excuse any more. What needs to be done has never been clearer. And here I am, and it's just too much, guys. I want to stick my head in a drill press. I feel like somebody's taken a melon baller to my heart and scooped me out. There has never been better evidence that I am not suited for the times. I don't want to organize, I don't want to meet people or listen to their problems, I don't want to do any of the hard work that all the mutual aid groups in Texas are doing. I'm too lazy to go out and start a Food Not Bombs group and I'm too cowardly to throw Molotovs at ICE detention centers (pic related). Reading Inhabit was the first time in at least a decade I actually had hope, just for a second, but after watching myself sink deeper into the couch with every horror and indignity, that's long gone. I always thought that the two options were going to be revolution or collapse, but I never expected the revolution was going to happen during the collapse and I'd just…sit it out, like a fucking grub. What am I fucking doing here, guys?

The Undercommons Conference Thread

/our guy/ edition

https://destituentcommons.com/

What is the Undercommons and Destituent Power Conference?

>On November 13th-16th, then, Indiana University’s 2020 Critical Ethnic Studies symposium brings into dialogue two zones of contemporary insurgent study: the undercommons and destituent power. To explore social life that evades political constraints such as citizenship, sovereignty, and governance, we seek to build upon the work of Fred Moten, Stefano Harney and Giorgio Agamben. Reveling in the fields that ground their work, the Black radical tradition and Italian Autonomia, this forum seeks to collect and share what we’ve learned from the practices and forms of life that are already breaking free of politics.

Extended thoughts on Hubs, from Brazil

What is a Hub?

A Hub connects people, affections, tools or common goals.

But it is also a package of seeds sent by mail, a book left on the bench of the square, an e-mail, a poem on the table of the cafeteria left at random.

A Hub is a territory populated by plants, animals, living beings with ties in a vast chain of connections. It is the art of meeting.

A vegetable garden that feeds a neighborhood, a wild forest that shelters protected beings from this withered world. A small library of books and records, of sounds and images connecting affections. Everything allows networks, Hubs.

Musical notes played by associates, a collective book and a bonfire of loves. Everything can be a Hub.

Autonomous places, where healthy food is produced, or conspiracies of knowledge, care medicine, that group of readings or mutual support, even friends on trails and hikes. There are so many possibilities of encounters!

A Hub is a box of useful tools, a thread bare from the system, a fissure of the hegemony of a gift that we will overcome.

A Hub is the poetry that travels through the blog, or the box of vegetables and fruits delivered among the common people.

It is a game with children, listening to stories, weaving plots between different people. Sowing flowers and collecting love letters from people so far away.

A rebellion of many, an uprising of worthy anger, a strike against injustice, a scream in the night. There are so many ways to find us, it depends only on ourselves, after all, no one will come to save us, only an agent.

A Hub is a rock that produces sparks, a hope that Life can be different, Now.

Has anyone got a group started to kick things off or is this just spreading info stage right now. Is their anyway to kick things off?

You'll have to scale your mom's basement staircase first. But go ahead, jump that wall and enjoy the thpusands of 20mm lead exploding your flesh at 6,000 rounds per minute from one of the many M61 Vulcans and GAU-8s. A single one of these arms would mow down the entire block of people in less than 30 seconds, now imagine that x50, and that's just on the perimeter. You'd need 50,000 able bodied people to even cross the lawn, and even then they'd break out the big guns, the sound guns where EVERYONE in front of it would drop in pain.

Urbanity

>This ones not for the anit-civ's

I'm a big fan of urbanism, the process of centralization seemingly expressed in nearly all human societies in varying degrees
Urbanism = centrality of centers (societal centers, productive centers, etc.), this is more or less what sociologist Henri Lefebvre puts forwards and its can be used to explain how as a human society develops its productive forces it develops cities, the most concentrated forms of urbanity

Ur - Sumerian society
Babylon - Babylonian society
Thebes - Egypt
to name a few

A simple way to view contemporary urbanisms, those rife with alienation, pollution, generally in-human spaces, is that it is a bastardization of urban potential, where rather than increasing common accessibility through agglomeration and centralization of centers of necessity (food/housing/education/etc.) it increases separation (think of highways bifurcating cities or redlining)

In creating a better society we must produce spaces which can facilitate and reinforce the relations and values of the society (in the same way capitalist urbanism reinforce and reproduce capitalist relations/values). With general ecological sentiments in mind we can assume that the sky-scraper filled cities (Singapore, Dubai, New York) will not have a place in this new societies places.
What forms/characteristics could future spaces take?
What could we take from the settlement forms of pre-industrial societies?

What does it mean to be against/for Civilization? How do you define it personally? What authors/definitions do you subscribe to in your analysis?
This seems like an important question for pathB that is often avoided but constantly relevant. Can the Ungovernable be bracketed within what has been called Civilization?

on communism

theory posting – communism has been co-opted by the late bolsheviks and lenin(ism)

a communist tradition based in councilism (Pannekoek), leftcommunism (KAPD), anarcho-communism (POUM), and the situationists and currently found in the works of Gille Dauvé and the other communizers (endnotes is the main one i read) stands to reassert the liberatory content of communism

these currents make up a libertarian communism which has heavy overlaps with anarchism (especially communization theory which can be well described as a sort of insurrectionary synthesis of communism and anarchism)

these theories/traditions stand in opposition to leninism which gave communism a bad name by utilizing its rhetoric in the authoritarian project of the (post 1930) ussr/comintern and now stand in opposition to the bastardized "communism" of ML's and the sects of American MLism

what do anons think about all this? does this communism have any relevance today?

Is Biden gonna recuperate the trump movement?

Is there a better word to use for this? When Biden gives Trump supporters a bunch of things they want but in a watered-down, compromised way that's demobilizing for the right?

For example, prior to the election Steve Bannon was freaking out because he felt that Biden was getting out ahead of them on certain economic nationalist policy positions against China, that sort of thing. Another example would be if Biden made cosmetic changes to immigration enforcement but otherwise went full steam ahead with border militarization.

Dunno if this is good or not, but it'd be cool for the Dems to recuperate somebody else for a change.

Can they recuperate the right and the left at the same time? Seems tricky

GLORIOUS BASTARD ANARCHISTS, LEND ME YOUR EARS

So we have our very own imageboard now, that's cool. Now we need to protect it, and that duty falls onto exactly three people: we, us and ourselves. Linked below is a pastebin link directing to a forked, but largely unedited, copy of the Gentleman's Guide to Forum Spies (Spooks, Feds, etc.). In a couple hours read you will have a basic understanding of how COINTELPRO and sister orgs operate on sites just like these, and also lots more handy information. WE HAVE THIS PLACE, A LITTLE CORNER OF CYBERSPACE, NOW DEFEND IT! Defend it or we WILL loose it.
